Blast from the Past...

Hello!
It seems like it's been forever since I've had something to share with you!
Life has been super hectic, but I'm happy to say that I'm today sharing with you a project I created with the newest collection released last week by Heartfelt Creations...the Young at Heart Collection!

Here's a little about this assembling which to me is such a blast from the past...

Hit the open road with the new Young at Heart Collection by Heartfelt Creations! Retro in style, this fun and playful transportation themed assembling of designer papers, cling stamp sets and coordinating dies will have you reminiscing and reliving past road trips with family, taking in a flick at the local drive in, sitting at the late night hamburger joint with friends in your classic automobile, or soaring the open skies in a vintage airplane! The classic style paper collection is filled with far out transportation graphics from an era in time where life was carefree and the journey was wherever the open road would take you! Diamond checkered patterns, retro themed signs, beach scenes and late night diner script mixed with vintage vehicle graphics are enveloped in a groovy color palette of bright stoplight reds, yellows, and greens, with a hint of electric pinks, flashy teals and glowing orange tones. Two sets of nifty cling stamp sets with coordinating dies reveal high wheeled bicycles, old fashioned airplanes, classic coupes, vintage pick-up trucks as well as several nostalgic banners and signs! A third fun filled cling stamp set flaunts hip and amusing sentiments sporting 50’s era style script perfect for completing the styling of days gone by on all of your retro themed creations! So grab your main squeeze, make sure you’re the first one to call shotgun and travel along with us as we cruise back in time where we will always be forever young!  Warning: use of this collection may cause feelings of youthfulness, feeling carefree or a desire for adventure!

I found a specialty fold card online that I decided I wanted to give a try and thought that this collection was perfect for it...especially for a masculine card as they are sometimes hard to make interesting!

I decided to try a corner pop up card!  You can find many tutorials on YouTube or even written instructions online if you google.

Here's how my project turned out...

This is a smaller sized card, measuring 4.25" and is the cutest thing!
It's not complicated once you get the hang of creating the card base, and the majority of the work just fell to layering all the different panels!
(Sorry, this post is going to get a little picture heavy!)

Here's a peek at how the card appears when you open it!
The one corner pops up as it's been created with a diagonal fold so opening and closing is done quite easily!
(Sorry for the blur in the photo...I have to admit that photographing this card was a bit hard.)

...moving along, allow me to share with you a close up of each of the panels...

This layer was quite straight forward...some matting onto black paper, a sentiment strip added and then a fussy cut image from within the paper collection which I popped up off of the panel for some interest and dimension!

For this second inside panel I've created a little scene by just using one of preprinted images on one of the scrapbook layout pages.  I've stamped a sentiment onto the panel, added some grass and a piece of fence from the Wildwood Cottage Collection and voila!

...and here's a top view with a peek at the last panel where you would write your well wishes...

I loved that the vintage post mark image worked out perfectly for this panel and thought it added a vintage flair to where you would write your message.
A touch of glitter to the palm tree on the front of the card, as well as all of the flowers in the classic car trunks and the card was complete!

I hope you've enjoyed today's share!

Instructions: Card Base - Begin with a piece of white card stock measuring 8.5" x 8.5". Score all the way down center, turn and score down center once again which will give you a card base with four equal sized squares. Next, using a pair of scissors, cut up the score line of one square stopping when you get to the center of the card base where all score lines meet. Score a diagonal line into box on top of box that you just cut into running from where cut stops to top corner. Slip cut square over other bottom panel of card base and adhere together. Your scored diagonal panel should be on top of the finished base. For a visual tutorial, please look to YouTube or google Corner Pop Up Card Tutorial.

Decorating - Trim black mats for all sides of card measuring 4" x 4". Trim out desired decorative papers for all panels measuring just slightly smaller than black mats. Ink all edges with a soft brown colored ink. Adhere designer paper and mats together. For main front panel of card, locate premade card panel displaying classic car and palm tree with racing strips and lace accents along the side. Fussy cut image using scissors as shown on card front, ink all edges with a brown colored ink and stamp sentiment onto image panel using a black ink. Locate sentiment strips and trim one sentiment from the Forever Young strip and a strip from the Road Trip sentiments to fit the bottom of card as shown, as well as the Journey image from another premade card panel found in the paper collection. Ink all edges with a brown colored ink. Adhere background sentiment strips to card as shown. Using pop dots, adhere fussy cut card panel to card front and then adhere Journey sentiment over top, along the side. Adhere to card base. Moving along to panels on the inside...trim out Forever Young sentiment with stars and stripes and Adventure classic car image, ink all edges with a light brown ink and add to panel as shown. Adhere panel to left side of card base. For the panel that will face you, trim out classic car image from scrapbook page within the paper collection. Stamp sentiment onto panel using a black colored ink. Stamp and die cut the grass and fence image from the Wildwood Cottage Accents Cling Stamp Set onto white card stock using black ink. Die cut, color, trim fence, shaped slightly and adhere to card panel. To adhere panel to card base, apply glue to top are of the diagonal score line only - bottom portion of panel will remain free so card is able to fold together and close. For bottom panel, adhere a fairly plain piece of coordinating decorative paper matted with black paper to allow for a written message. Add glitter to palm tree, and all flowers in the trunk of classic car on all panels using a dries clear adhesive with fine tip.
